The Birth of a Woodworker

"Dad, when I grow up I want to be a woodworker just like you."

When my son, Tim, told me he wanted to become a woodworker I got excited. I wanted to show him everything I knew, but figured he would only retain small amount of information. So throughout the last year and a half, I have had Tim helping around the shop with different tasks, and showing him tricks of the trade like how to use a speed square.

A couple days ago Tim says to me, " Dad I want to make something" I knew it was time. With a little guidance Tim was ready for his first real woodworking project. Follow along to see Tims' progress and completion of two Farmhouse style succulent wall sconces.

First, Tim took measurements and made cuts. I told him, "son make sure you measure twice and cut once." He measured 4 times and cut once, I guess you can never be to sure, right?
